A hobby fair at Dennis Township Primary School on March 31 showed that when the school’s Kindergarten through Second Grade students take a break from their studies, they are anything by bored.
Using tabletop displays with pictures, trophies, collections and mementos, students shared their interests and talents with their classmates. A future paleontologist shared his fossil and rock specimens. An avid fisherman displayed a photo of the big one that didn’t get away, and a would-be NFL star proudly exhibited his trophies alongside a signed leg cast from his first big injury on the field.
The fair demonstrated a wide array of hobbies. Some students dedicate their time to sports like baseball, gymnastics, fishing and dance. Others collect snow globes or care for a menag-erie of stuffed and virtual pets. Some create sculptures or paint pictures, while others dedicate their time to learning more about a subject that interests them.
But whether it’s scrap-booking, sharks, soccer or Star Wars, one thing is clear, the school’s students have plenty to keep them very busy once the bell rings at the end of the day.
