Sail aboard New Jersey’s Tall Ship AJ Meerwald

Utsch’s Marina in Cape May will be the port-of-call for New Jersey’s Tall Ship, the authentically restored 1928 oyster schooner AJ Meerwald, from July 31 through Sept. 6.
The Meerwald offers unique sailing experiences for visitors young, old and in-between. Whether you want to take a tour of the boat at dockside, join a pirate crew, sample some salty oysters, trawl for marine life, send the kids off for a day-camp on the high seas, or take an evening cruise after a day on the beach. New Jersey’s Tall Ship can accommodate you.
Enjoy an Open House: Sunday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. to noon. Tour the Meerwald and meet the crew, free.

Discounted Family Special Sails, Saturdays, Aug. 1, 8, 22, 29 and Sept. 5 at 10 a.m.; Pirate Sails (costumes encouraged), Aug. 2-30 at 1:30 p.m.; Oyster Sail (with shucking demo raw bar), Aug. 9 at 1:30pm.; Marine Critters Sail (haul in a trawl line learn about marine creatures), Aug. 16 at 1:30 p.m.; Music Sail (live performer on board), Aug. 23 at 1:30 p.m.; Guest Speaker Sails (subject of presentation varies, call for details), Aug. 6, 20, 27 and Sept. 3 at 1:30pm.
Sailor for a Day Camps – Wednesdays, Aug. 5, 12, 19, 26 and Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A full day of activities onboard a tall ship offers a unique summer camp experience for children 10 to 16 years old.
Campers hoist the sails, haul in the trawl line, learn about local marine life, navigate the ship, take the helm, tie some ‘salty’ knots, sing sea chanties, and more.
Coastal Navigation Transit: Learn navigation and nautical skills while sailing from Cape May to Bivalve, NJ. Enjoy sunset on the bay, lighthouses, wildlife and more. A great opportunity for outdoor photographers. Sunday, Sept. 6 from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
Return transportation not included.
