AVALON – Over 14,000 groups and organizations joined together Oct. 10 to pray the rosary, including some right here in Cape May County. This faith-based event sponsored by America Needs Fatima, anf.org, gathers thousands around the country in prayer. This public rosary prayer takes place every year on the closest Saturday to Oct. 13, the feast of the last apparition Fatima.
The goal, according to Rosemary Mancinelli, local organizer for Maris Stella Church in Avalon, is to “turn to God to take care of our country and return family values.” The group believes urgent prayer is needed for America due to recent gay marriage laws, and media related to Planned Parenthood and abortion. A group of about 25, mostly from Maris Stella Church and Saint Brendan the Navigator Parish met at 50th Street and Dune Drive in Avalon. The group gathered around the Blessed Mother statue for hymn and public prayer with rosary beads in hand and a banner proudly waiving.
