VON SAVAGE, JANE COLLIER

VON SAVAGE, JANE COLLIER Jane Collier Von Savage entered His Light of Pure Heavenly Love on September 26, 2016 at age 96.Isabelle Emma ‘Jane’ Burns was born June 27 1920 in Philadelphia PA ‘on a Sunday morning as the church bells rang’. She was the adored only child of the late Edward Neely and Isabelle (Young) Burns. Jane finally met her half-brother Ed and wife Ellen Burns when she was fifty years old, forming a lasting bond of love.Jane graduated with honors in 1937 from Gloucester (City) High School NJ and entered the business world at Curtis Publishing and Campbell Soup Company. In 1941 Jane married John ‘Jack’ Collier of Gloucester City, NJ and they had four daughters Janice, Joyce, June and Jill. The Collier family enjoyed ‘rolling up the rug’ and dancing as Jane sang and played piano!Jack died in a car accident in 1967. Jane remarried widower and former Mayor Joseph Von Savage in 1971 after being introduced by dear friends the late Bud and Doris Moore.Jane, June and Jill together with Joe’s three children Barry, Carole and David lived in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Joe died in 1974. Barry died in 1972 and Jill died in 1999. Jane carried on with her strong faith and the resilience of the Greatest Generation as an active member of Crest Community Church.Jane was a former PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, a performing artist, storyteller and successful business woman. She was a member of the Wildwood Civic Club and Greater Wildwood Yacht Club.In the summer of 1958 Jane and her best friend the late Helena Burgess leased what became the Candlelight Inn while Jane managed the Manor Hotel in North Wildwood. Throughout the 1960’s Jane and Jack owned Collier’s Rooms and Apts. in Wildwood. Jane later became a successful real estate agent for Hoffman Agency and owned the Breezy Corner Motel in Wildwood Crest retiring as a snowbird at age eighty four with her partner of 30 years Eddie Allen.Jane lived her class motto ‘Variety is the spice of life!’ Three memorial services are planned in Virginia, Florida and her favorite hometown of Wildwood Crest NJ. Jane leaves behind three adoring daughters and their husbands Janice (Walden, MD) Holl of Haddonfield, NJ; Joyce (Douglas) Putnam of Palm Beach Gardens FL and June (Michael) Beyer of the City of Falls Church VA where Jane enjoyed regularly attending Dulin UMC.’Grammy’ was beloved and is so missed by her 8 grandchildren, their spouses and 19 Great Grandchildren. A special celebration of Jane’s life will be held on June 27, 2017 in Wildwood Crest. Interment will be privately held in Clarksboro NJ as Jane joins her mother Isabelle, Aunt Emma, husband Jack and daughter Jill in a final resting place.
