On May 21st, 8 days before his 94th birthday John (Jack) Taylor peacefully left this earth surrounded by his loving family. Born in Toms River to Eugene and Lillian Taylor, he moved to Wildwood Crest attending Phillip Baker and Wildwood High School where he was valedictorian. Jack joined the Army after high school and served in the Korean War as a meat cutter. After his service he returned to Wildwood Crest to work in Taylor’s Market which he owned and operated for more than 60 years. You could always find him behind the butcher block sharing his wit and wisdom with his many loyal customers. Jack retired to Clearwater Florida but always loved the Wildwoods. He was a volunteer with the Wildwood Crest Fire Company for more than 65 years and a long time board member of the Crest Community Church. He proudly served as vice chairman of Crest Savings Bank and was a former member of GWTIDA, helping to bring a new convention center to town.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Eugene “Scoop” and Mary Taylor, sister Ruth, and grandson, Nicholas DiPalma. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, who he loved dearly, Mona (Bjorkman), brother-in-law Kjell Bjorkman (Karen), his daughters Linda Taylor (Hunter), Janice Taylor and Joan Maurer (Jack). Granddaughters, Angela DiPalma, Jenna Brown and Shannon VanHoesen; great grandchildren Emma, Finley, Blake, Maeve and Delaney, and his nieces and nephew.
A celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Wildwood Crest Fire Company, Crest Community Church, Warrior 50 or a charity of your choice.
