McKEEFERY, ELIZABETH M., 86 – of Sea Isle City passed away September 8, 2016. She was surrounded by her family as she returned peacefully to her Lord. “Betty” was born in Philadelphia to Frank and Catherine Brophy in 1930. She graduated West Catholic Girls High School in 1948. That same year she married Robert “Pop” M. McKeefery, Sr. and moved to Sharon Hill, PA. There they lived for 46 years, raising eight children, all the while spending summers at the shore. They moved to Sea Isle City full time 1996 to enjoy retirement. After 61 years of marriage, “Pop” predeceased her in 2007. Betty loved the beach and she loved the ocean. She was an avid reader and enjoyed every movie classic. She never passed up a fresh oyster and she looked forward to Sundays and Tuesdays, the only days Busch’s sold their famous She Crab Soup. She enjoyed winters in Florida and later in life traveled the country. She loved to garden. She loved to shop. She loved to coupon. And she loved to cook. Most of all she loved her life and she loved her family. Betty is survived by her eight children: Suzanne Ellis of Miami, FL, Diane Clark of Waterford Works, NJ, Barbara McKeefery (Chris) of Stevensville, MD, Robert M. McKeefery, JR (Barbara) of Sea Isle City, NJ, Janet Mazzella (Silverio) of Wilmington, NC, Karen Kurek (Steve) of Williamstown, NJ, Mimi McKeefery of Little Torch Key, FL , and Nancy Hamman (Ernie) of Middletown, DE. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, with two more joining the family soon. A memorial service will be held Monday September 12, 2016 at 2pm at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue in Cape May Court House. Burial will be private.
