John Joseph “Jack” McIntyre, 96 of Cape May Court House, NJ passed away April 3, 2023. He was born on June 26, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA, the second of three children of Clarence and Mary McIntyre (Devine). John graduated from North Catholic High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. He served as a radar man on the USS John R. Pierce and spent time in Pearl Harbor, Japan, and China during his service. When he returned to the U.S., he attended Saint Joseph’s University on the GI Bill, graduating in 1950. Throughout John’s childhood and young adulthood, he was an active member of the Lighthouse Boys Club, where he developed a love of soccer that would endure throughout the rest of his life. John retired in 1991 after more than 35 years with Lederle Laboratories, and moved to Cape May County, NJ, where he lived for many happy years walking, swimming, sailing, reading, watching international “football” matches and spending time with his family.
John and his late wife, Mary Anne McIntyre (Baird), are survived by their seven children: John McIntyre Jr., Mary Anne K. McIntyre (Al Troncone), Ellen Catelli (Anthony), Michael McIntyre (Marian MacKenzie), Amy McIntyre Kramer, Kevin McIntyre (Shennan Kavanagh), and Lynne McIntyre (Herbert Caudill III). John and Mary Anne reveled in their big family, which also includes 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Genevieve Bocchino (Philip; Matthew, Luke and Gabriella); Bridget Matthews (Dan; Jack Nolan, Charlotte and Madelyn); Janine Boyer (Eric; Juliet and Aubrey); Michael Porreca (Kerry and Cavan); Casey Smith (Daniel and Parker); Toni Nicole Morris (Scott; Mac and Griffin); Michael Jr., Emma and Owen McIntyre; Spencer, Nolan and Natalie Kramer; Jude John McIntyre; and Calvin and Ashe Caudill. John was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne and his sisters Rosemary Mackell and Alice Harrington.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at 10:00 am on May 11, 2023, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, Maris Stella Roman Catholic Church at 50th Street and Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ, 08202.
