HOLLAND, AMANDA

Amanda Holland of Wildwood Crest: Once Upon a Time in a town by the sea, there lived a husband (Jack Holland) and his wife (Karen Holland), and they had three strong, healthy sons (Jack III, Kevin, and Nicholas). Although the couple was quite content, there was something missing, something they could not quite figure out.
As if by magic, on June 20, 1996, Princess Amanda Dorothy Holland was born. The Hollands had finally found what had been missing, and the family was complete. The tiny town celebrated her pink arrival. Princess Amanda’s older brothers immediately transformed into her Knights in Shining Armor and Wildwood Crest into her Kingdom.
But Princess Amanda was not one of those old-fashioned princesses, sitting in a tower waiting to be rescued by a prince. She was a modern princess armed with a zest for life and a determination to manifest her own dreams. She graduated from Cape May Technical High School in 2014, conquered a pandemic, and then graduated from Stockton University in 2021 with a major in Early Elementary Education. Princess Amanda then returned to Cape May Technical High School as its Pre-School teacher, for she especially loved children and her most favored children were her three nieces- Hailey, Addison, and Olivia.
Like most princesses, Amanda loved shopping and Disney. But, unlike those traditional princesses who stand around singing about how one day their princes will come, Amanda enjoyed singing along to her favorite artists Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, and Shot of Southern. She did not waste away in a dark castle; she frequented the Rambler Road Country Club, served as a Camp Counselor at Pier Playmates Day Camp and choreographed epic dance routines during the competitions, chaperoned dances, and cooked in the kitchen during basketball tournaments. Amanda was a capable, well-rounded, independent princess.
Alas, as with most fairy tales, such beauty and spiritedness does not come without cost. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Princess Amanda fell into a deep, forever-sleep. She will be greatly missed, but for those who knew and loved her, she will always hold court in their hearts.
Amanda is preceded in death by William and Dorothy Betz (maternal grandparents), John and
Kathryn Holland (paternal grandparents), Mickey and Ryan (cousins), Uncle Frank, Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Jack.Amanda is survived by parents Jack and Karen Holland; brothers Jack III (Ashley), Kevin, and Nicholas; Aunt Peggy, Aunt Pat (Uncle Tom), Aunt Kathi (Uncle Mike), and Uncle Tom (Aunt Jackie); Aunt Dona, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Dottie, many, many, many cousins, and her boyfriend Jonathan Edwards.Services to celebrate Amanda’s life was held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Assumption Church on Rambler & Seaview, 7110 Seaview Avenue In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Amanda’s name to The Lunch with Lynch Foundation: P.O. Box 1322 Wildwood, NJ 08260.
