CHANDLER, ROBERT M.

CHANDLER, ROBERT M., 93, of Belleplain, NJ, passed peacefully in his sleep Friday morning September 30, 2016. Born in Cape May Court House to Bessie and Herbert Chandler, he was the oldest of six children. He was a lifetime resident of Cape May County, living in Stone Harbor and Cape May Court House before moving to Belleplain in 1999. Bob is predeceased by his brothers, Herbert “Leon” and Melvin; his sisters, Helena Allen and Esther Ewing; and his son in law, Harry Creamer. Bob is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 58 years, Gladys; his sister, Pauline Richardson; his children, Norma Holler (Steve), Arletta Creamer, and Ronald Cheesman (Becky); eight grandchildren, Robin Holman (Chad), Raymond Eckert (Kim), Robert Eckert (Ann), Brett Eckert, Stephen Holler Jr. (Amy), Harry Creamer Jr. (Amiee), Carly Creamer (Jen), Stacy Scott (Shawn), and Justin Cheesman (Katy); fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was born in compromised eyesight. However, this did not hinder him from becoming a very successful builder in Stone Harbor and Avalon. His logo went “Robert M. Chandler – Builder of Fine Homes”. He was asked to join the Board of Directors of the Old 1st National Bank of Cape May Court House. Later, he became a land developer. Bob had deep respect for the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks as they helped fund his eye surgery as a young child. As an adult, he became a member of Wildwood #1896 and Greater Cape May #2839, Past Exalted Ruler and Chairman of Special Children’s Committee for 20 years, which was dear to his heart. Bob (Old Pop-Pop) leaves behind fond memories of his large family and all the wonderful times together. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cape May Court House. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Cape May County Animal Welfare Society, 40 Route 47 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
