ROTH, SHIRLEY MAE

ROTH, SHIRLEY MAE
Shirley Mae Roth, a beloved figure known for her generosity, friendliness, and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Cape May, New Jersey, at the age of 82. Born on April 27, 1943, in Salem, NJ.
Shirley lived a life marked by joy, dedication to her family, and service to her community. Shirley was a proud graduate of Salem High School, class of 1961, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for her future endeavors. Her professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling, with a career that spanned several beloved establishments on The Cape May Mall, including The Margaret Mary Shop, My Sister's Place, The Wood Nook, and Roth's Candyland.
Shirley's organizational skills and natural warmth culminated in her role as the office manager at 98.7 The Coast Radio Station and Bowman Builders, where she was a respected and cherished colleague. A woman of many passions, Shirley had a special place in her heart for consignment shops, where she pursued her love for collecting teapots. Her creativity shone brightly through her sewing and baking, talents that brought joy to many and left a legacy of cherished family recipes and beautiful crafts. Shirley's adventurous spirit was evident in her love for travel, often accompanied by her close circle of friends with whom she shared countless unforgettable experiences.
Family was the cornerstone of Shirley's life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joseph C. Roth, and a loving sister to Clara Owens (with her late husband Liston), Diana Sayers (Larry Cannizzaro), and Mary Lawrence (Wayne), as well as her brothers Ernie Land (with his late wife Pat) and Robert Land (Brenda). Shirley's legacy includes her daughters Kathleen Lawrence and Sondra Schubert (Burt), her grandsons Robert J. Gittle and Kaden Gittle (Caitlyn), and Joseph I. Moore, as well as her granddaughters Pamela Emily Hackett (Joe) and Amber Pullinger. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Steven J. Moore and Zari Jade Hackett.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Pullinger, her mother Edith Mae Whitesell and her husband Eddie, who instilled in her the values of love and family that she carried throughout her life. Shirley's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. Her warm smile, her kindness, and her unwavering support of those around her are aspects of her character that will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Through her actions, she taught us the importance of community, the joy of giving, and the value of cherishing every moment with our loved ones. As we say goodbye to Shirley Mae Roth, we celebrate a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her, and her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Shirley's journey through life was a testament to the beauty of a generous soul, and her story will be recounted with smiles and gratitude for generations to come.
