Museum to Hold Special Open House for the Holiday Season, Dec. 9

Museum Christmas

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County’s centuries-old tradition of coming home for the holiday season will be celebrated this year when The Museum opens its doors to welcome members of the community. This year’s open house is free to the public and will take place Dec. 9 from noon until 3 p.m.
Housed in a home that has sat on the property since 1704, The Museum serves as the ancestral home to every citizen of Cape May County. Visitors can take a tour of the rooms, see collections that date back to the 17th century, recall Christmas memories and make new memories to last a lifetime.
As we enter the darkest season of the year, The Museum’s rooms will once again be filled with the warmth, light and sounds of the yuletide season. For the first time ever, The Museum’s rooms will be magnificently decorated for the Christmas holiday by local florists such as Garden Greenhouse, Pine Lake Nursery and Blooms.
Visitors to this year’s open house will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime event as The Museum’s newest exhibit venue, the Farmor Cottage, is officially opened at 1 p.m. by none other than the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus.
Housed in an authentic 19th century block building, the Farmor Cottage will be dedicated to children everywhere.  Inside will offer artifacts that are hands-on so children can learn about life on an 18th and 19th century plantation.  As part of the grand opening, Farmor will be on hand to welcome Santa and visitors to the cottage.
Come enjoy The Museum this holiday season. Bask in the warmth of this county’s long history as you meet your neighbors and enjoy the sounds and sights of Christmas – Cape May County-style!
