Meet Lower Cape May Regional’s 4-H Club

#39 LCMR club .jpg

Officers Gavin Coughlin and Jewels Frederick were hard at work preparing this year’s activities with the help of seniors Allison Calvert and Shelby Conway. Our Club Theme, “Companion Animals” began during Covid lock downs and virtual meetings and has continued to in person school meetings. Our 4-H Club is an after school, (school sanctioned) program. We meet every Tuesday in Mrs. Barr’s science classroom and monthly at her farm in Middle Township. We sometimes travel to other places for trips and community service with the help of Mr. Grottola and our School Based Youth Service Van.

We participated in many activities this year starting with the Rutgers 4-H Halloween Open House in October, where we taught the public about our Honey Bee Program and Extracting Honey from the honey combs.  Community service activities included Earth Day LCMR grounds clean up and returning Terrapin Turtle babies back to the wild from storm drains. In March, our club presented their Public Presentations. We ended our 4-H school year with a picnic at the Cape May Lighthouse State Park. We’re wishing everyone a fantastic, safe summer. We will see you at the 4-H Fair!
