SOUTH SEAVILLE – Greta Rebecca, of South Seaville, made her debut earlier this month at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia in “Shrek The Musical.”
According to a release, Rebecca, an 8-year-old third-grade student, is part of the ensemble cast in the Thursday matinees and all weekend performances from Nov. 16 through Jan. 5, 2020.
She will also be performing with the cast of “Shrek” live on television during the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Rebecca is a former student at Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School (BMRCS) in Court House. She is being home-schooled during the performance, with plans to return to BMRCS in January.
According to her parents, Rebecca is no stranger to the stage as she has performed in many school, local and off-Broadway productions.
Previously, she came up with the idea for the school to raise money for the local hospital pediatric unit. This culminated in the production of the successful “Bishop’s Got Talent” show which raised $4,500 for Cape Regional Foundation to benefit the health system’s Pediatrics Department.
In addition, she was recently selected as one of the youngest performers for the NYC Tap Crew, led by Becca and Thommie Retter.
She is vocally trained by Julie Zarukin and by Jessi Clayton, of The Prep. She dances with Jazz Unlimited of Marlton. Locally, she performs with Hands Up Silent Theatre, which produces musical theatre shows while incorporating American Sign Language (ASL).
In addition, she has a passion for sharing the Gospel with those around her.
