Ever been asked to name an octopus? Now’s your chance! The Wetlands Institute has announced the arrival of a new octopus, thanks to Randy Laudeman who played “stork” and delivered this newest addition to the Institute’s aquarium.
Now this little girl octopus needs a name. Stop by for weekly aquarium feedings, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and meet her.
Watch as she plays hide and seek from her conch shell or glides around the tank and often comes up to the edge to “touch hands” with visitors. Then drop your name for her in the box near her tank.
The deadline for names is Monday, Feb. 8. Entries will be narrowed down to the top four favorites and people will have the chance to vote on Facebook or Twitter. The winner will receive a family membership to the Wetlands Institute and a basket of goodies from the Tidepool Gift Shop.
Winter hours at the Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd., Stone Harbor, are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information call 368-1211 or visit wetlandsinstitute.org
