Greater Cape May Elks #2839 was initiated as a lodge in May of 2005 and is proud to continue serving Lower Township and Cape May County with their many charities. They include Americanism, Army of Hope, Drug Awareness, Hoop and Soccer Shoots, Batter up, New Jersey Run For The Fallen, Special Children, Scholarships and Veteran Programs. They have also participated in Community Activities such as Little League Opening Day, Pumpkin Festival, and Lower Townships Holiday Festivities. They are a co-sponsor of the Tom Beheler/Greater Cape May Elks Basketball Holiday Tournament, and sponsors a Lower Township’s Basketball Team.
Dictionaries have been presented to school children and a Path to Leadership and Peer Leadership Programs for Lower Township’s Middle and High School Students is ongoing. The lodge takes part in the New Jersey State Elks Association’s Parade and Convention every June in Wildwood. Yes, we have had scholarship winners from our lodge. The New Jersey State Elks Association owns and operates, Camp Moore, a camp for special children that Greater Cape May Elks continues to provide assistance.
The celebration includes the Drug Awareness Trailer with Elroy, Basketball Hoop for kids to practice for the Hoop Shoot coming this fall and other children’s activities. Music is provided by favorite bands, Bitter Sweet and 12 Strings.
