CAPE MAY — The Garden Club of Cape May celebrated its 32nd anniversary and honored its presidents and long-time members with ceremony and an elegantly arranged luncheon at its last meeting of the season, June 13. Nancy Beale, a past president, presented a slide show of memories going back to the club’s early days, which included several former members who returned to Cape May for the celebration and several who have left us.
Among those honored as members for 15 years or more were Phyllis Douglass; Hope Gaines; Dixie Barab; Beth Rumsey; Ursula Friedrich; Ann Doherty; Liz O’Connor; Terri Donahue; Peg Gillies; Jane Perri; Nancy Beale; Stina Ferguson; and Marge Wetherill.
The Garden Club of Cape May meets on the second Tues. of the month from Sept. to June at Price HALL of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church. During the summer members host visits to their own gardens; the first this year is June 27. The club also awards Garden of the Month — not limited to members — June through Sept.
