AVALON – The Avalon Garden Club visited the borough’s dune Oct. 24 for its annual dune grass planting.

According to a release, the 44-year-old club has participated in dune planting, in Avalon, for several years. Through the annual dune planting, the club seeks to beautify Avalon’s beaches and strengthen the dunes health, given their importance in fighting coastal flooding.

Beach grasses also hold the dunes together, which prevents sand erosion.
