Fishing is a terrific family activity any time of the year and this summer has been a rewarding one for those who venture out.
The Miss Avalon is the only party-charter boat on Seven Mile Island and is docked at Avalon Fishing Center, 14th St. and Ocean Drive.
Miss Avalon LLC has been a member of Stone Harbor and Avalon Chambers of Commerce since late 1970s or early 1980s.
Owner/operator Captain Jerry Hurd is a second generation captain and fisherman with 60 years of experience on the water.
Miss Avalon LLC sails from April through mid-December. Four-hour (1/2 day) fishing continues through September with two trips daily at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
On Friday, Oct. 2, six-hour Fall Wreck Fishing begins. Scheduled trips are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“This summer has been an exceptional one for flounder fishing even with the 18 inch regulation,” says Captain Jerry Hurd, Miss Avalon LLC. “Everyone loves to catch flounder!”
The season remains open thru Sept. 4, so there are still a few weeks left to claim your fish. While the gals shop, the guys can fish (or the guys can shop and the gals can go fishing).
