South Dennis Teen Wins $1,000 in National Miniature Golf Tourney

By Press Release

WILDWOOD — Harris Miniature Golf Courses Inc. held its national miniature golf tournament in Vestal, N.Y. on Sat., Oct. 2.
The Wildwood-based miniature golf construction company started the “Harris Cup” tournament in 2000, and has awarded $100,000 in prize money to date.
In this year’s competition, 15-year-old South Dennis resident Scott Babbitt competed against 49 players, representing courses in 13 states as far west as Utah.
Babbitt’s total score after completing 36 holes was 91, which earned him second place in the First Flight division and a check for $1,000.
Babbitt qualified for the Harris Cup after placing second at Medieval Fantasy mini-golf’s annual tournament held in Ocean City.
Babbitt plans to invest the prize money in a computer to help with his studies at St. Augustine Prep School.
