Sea Isle fundraiser promotes beauty of all kinds

By On Deck Staff

The Sea Isle Beautification Committee was formed in 2007 when City Council invited citizens to volunteer their time and talent on issues of aesthetic importance.
Their focus is to enrich the image and ‘beauty’ of Sea Isle—beauty for the eyes, ears, and spirit!
The committee would like to encourage tree planting. In addition to beauty, trees provide shade, cooler/cleaner air, and curb appeal.
With funding from the Environmental Commission, the group immediately facilitated the planting of six additional trees on the JFK Median last spring.
And to encourage everyone to plant trees, the group negotiated an agreement with O’Connor Landscaping to provide affordable trees and service.
Plant a tree in honor of someone you love or to add curb appeal, at a great price—it’s win/win!
The committee has worked through the city to add holiday lights and seasonal theme flags.
Future projects are to enhance the entrances into Sea Isle from Strathmere and Avalon.
The committee is promoting two cultural events in 2009 which they hope will become family traditions.
An ensemble of NYC based musicians will perform pops on Memorial Day weekend and will return with a yuletide performance on December 27.
Many are interested in a way to permanently honor loved ones or to remember special occasions.
The committee has presented an innovative design for a beautiful and tasteful memorial garden at the entrance from Avalon into Sea Isle City.
The plan, which has been approved by the city, will be fully funded through donations. Memorial pavers are available in various sizes.
A fund raiser dinner will be held at the Lobster Loft on Sunday, April 19. Great food and fun for all include buffet, cash bar at happy hour pricing, top shelf prizes, silent auctions, and more.
Cost is $25 per person. For more information on the committee and its projects, or to purchase fund raiser tickets, go to sicmemorial@aol.com or call 856-952-4074.
