DENNISVILLE — Bruce W. Knoll Jr., the Herald’s NASCAR columnist and a sophomore at the county Technical High School, became an Eagle Scout Nov. 16, and was honored with a Court of Honor at Dennis Township Municipal Building.
Knoll, son of Bruce and Mary Knoll Sr., has been involved in scouting since he was 6, and entered the Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub in Pack 56, Dennisville.
Dignitaries who presented awards at the ceremony included State Sen.-elect Jeff Van Drew and Assemblyman Nelson Albano (both D-1st), Freeholder Director and Eagle Scout Daniel Beyel, Undersheriff John W. Reemmer, on behalf of Sheriff John Callinan, Dennis Township Deputy Mayor Dennis Crippen and many scouting officials.
Knoll asked that Albert Knoll, his uncle and retired Dennis Township clerk and administrator, and the first Eagle Scout in Troop 56 in 1978, pin on his Eagle medal.
Knoll’s Eagle Scout Service project was erection of a monument at Dennis Volunteer Fire Company in honor of all the firefighters who have and presently protect that community.
