Rock the Boat for Autism a team of five rowers, in two boats, traveled 1,500 miles up the coast of eight states finally ending their journey to a heroes’ welcome on the beaches of Sea Isle City on Saturday, August 1.
The group’s goal was to raise $250,000 for the Autism Society of America, a grassroots autism organization, with the goal to improve the lives of all affected by autism.
Autism affects about one child out of every one hundred and fifty. Parents usually notice signs in the first two years of their child’s life. Although early behavioral or cognitive intervention can help children gain self-care, social, and communication skills, there is no known cure.
