COURT HOUSE – Cancer survivors, attired in purple shirts, took the first lap to a hearty round of applause around Memorial Field’s track Sat., June 2 to kick off the Relay for Life, a night-long fund raiser to fight cancer that started in late afternoon.
Middle Township High School’s Student Council took the lead to organize the event, sanctioned by the American Cancer Society. Many high school students participated in a series of races and activities including a T-shirt frozen in a block which teams tried to thaw using only their hands, a three-legged race and various other feats of sport and daring.
A luminary garden in the shape of a ribbon was off one side of the track to remember those who battled cancer.
Many local businesses participated either with teams of walkers or by donations.
Cancer survivor Jay DeVico enjoyed being present at the event along with his parents.
A full moon rose over the event to brighten the field that was filled with tents for those brave participants who planned to walk the night away to help fight cancer.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
