‘Boxes Of Love’ Campaign Ends July 1

By Herald Staff

CLERMONT— Local resident Jennifer Blankley is clamoring to gather as many as 650 “Boxes of Love” filled with items to send to American troops stationed at Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq. Blankley is organizing this campaign for 650 soldiers who recently were notified of a nine-month extension, to help boost morale. Blankley said items such as soap, sunglasses, sunscreen, international phone cards, hard candies, DVDs, gum, baby wipes, lip balm, foot powder, personal care items, music CDs, beef jerky, and other comfort items are most needed. As of last week, she had gathered 170 packages. She encourages all donors to write a personal note of encouragement, calling this “the most important” part of the package.
Donations are being accepted through July 1. Monetary donations to help defray the estimated $5,000 in shipping costs are also being accepted.
Anyone interested in participating may contact her at 609-576-4578.
