Doliszny Awarded Congressional Gold Medal, STEM Star

OCEAN CITY – Evan Doliszny of Ocean City, was awarded both the Congressional Award, Gold Medal and the STEM Star in mathematics by the U.S. Congress June 20.
According to a release, he was one of 538 nationwide to be awarded the Gold Medal in 2019 and one of 196 medalists to receive the STEM Star.
Doliszny was also one of 18 students in the nation to be awarded a full international National Security Language Initiative for Youth scholarship to travel to Amman, Jordan for an intensive Arabic immersion program last summer, awarded and fully funded by the U.S. State Department.
He is currently working to complete his Eagle Scout Service project this fall.
After the June 20 Gold Medal award ceremony, Doliszny was invited to attend the Congressional Award, STEM Stars reception, which was later held in the Kennedy Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building.
The STEM Star Award was presented to 196 Gold Medalists nationwide who engaged in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics activities in pursuit of the Congressional Award Gold Medal.
Of those recipients, Doliszny was awarded the STEM Star specifically for his work in mathematics.
Congress presented The Congressional Award Gold Medal to 538 youths, the largest class in the program’s 40-year history. Spanning 42 U.S. states and territories and 181 congressional districts, Gold Medalists contributed 295,206 volunteer hours to their communities, an average of 548 hours per medalist.
The Congressional Award is for aspiring students, established by Congress in 1979 to recognize exceptional “Initiative, Achievement, and Service” in young Americans.
As a Congressional Award Gold Medalist, Doliszny was one of 20 in New Jersey to earn the Gold Medal Award.
