Dennis Township Primary School Celebrates ‘Happy to be a Hawk’ Week

Proud to be a Hawk 1

By Press Release

DENNIS TOWNSHIP – The students and staff at the Dennis Township Primary School recently celebrated their 2nd annual Happy to be a Hawk week.
Each day of the week focused on a different character education theme, ranging from Motto Monday to Friendship Friday, with a Kindness Convention, parent picnic and Carnival for main events.
“Students were encouraged to participate in fun learning activities designed to teach positive social skills and appreciation for each other and the community,” says teacher Alison Curvan, one of the main organizers.
Her colleague and co-organizer Samantha Matthews thinks the event was a great success.  “We had wonderful participation from our school district as well as the community as a whole,” Matthews states.
Middle school student government members helped out during some of the events and say they enjoyed working with the primary school children.
Principal Jamie VanArtsdalen says she is impressed with the amount of effort Curvan, Matthews and the other event organizers put into the week-long schedule of activities and events.
“I truly appreciate the work all of our teachers and staff put into making Happy to be a Hawk week so successful,” VanArtsdalen says.
