Crest plans action-packed fall

Plan to attend the following family events:
• Wildwood Crest Patriot’s Day Ceremony
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host a Patriot’s Day Ceremony Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Miami Road and New Jersey Ave.
The event is held to honor all those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Various community leaders are expected to attend.

• Firefighters’ Weekend Craft Show
The Borough of Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will host the annual Firefighters’ Weekend Craft Show Sept. 18-19 at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea at Rambler Road and Ocean Ave.
A variety of arts and crafts vendors will be on hand Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Admission is free. Free parking will be available adjacent to the Gazebo area.
Vendor space for the event is still available.
• Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host its annual Seafarers Celebration Sept. 26, an all-day festival that will take place at both Sunset Lake and Fern Road Fitness Park.
The Seafarers Celebration will begin at 9 a.m. at Sunset Lake, located along New Jersey Ave. between Rambler and Miami roads. Scores of arts and crafts vendors and a variety of food vendors will line the Sunset Lake area. The event will also include live music, lots of children’s and family entertainment and much more.
At 6 p.m., the festival moves to the beachfront at Fern Road Fitness Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Ave. Included will be more live music, a special appearance by the Hegeman String Band and more. A spectacular beachfront fireworks show will go off at 9 p.m.
Vendor space for the event is still available.
• Monster Truck Expo
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will help kick off Thunder on the Beach Weekend in the Wildwoods by hosting a Monster Truck Expo Oct. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Crest Pier Recreation Center, located at Heather Road and Ocean Ave.
This fun-filled family event will feature a disc jockey, face painting, street performers, food vendors and more. In addition, Monster Truck rides will be available on the beach at Heather Road.
Admission to the event is free but a fee is required for Monster Truck rides.

Sunset Lake Hydrofest Oct. 10-11
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host the annual Wildwoods Hydrofest Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is staged at beautiful Sunset Lake, located along New Jersey Avenue between Rambler and Miami roads.
This year’s competition serves as the American Power Boat Association’s National Championships.
This two-day event features powerboat racing, with hydroplane and flat-bottom race boats competing at speeds of 80 to 140 miles per hour. Racing action will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Craft, merchandise and food vendors will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Admission is free, but pit passes for those seeking to get as close to the action as possible are available for $10. Closed footwear is required in the pits.
