RIO GRANDE – The Cape May County Department of Human Services will take the newly launched S.O.A.R. (Services, Outreach, Assistance and Referral) program on the road to the Upper Township Senior Center, July 31 at 10 a.m. The program is designed to bring information to the public about the variety of county programs and services for elderly residents.
Participating in the S.O.A.R. presentation will be the Cape May County Divisions of Aging & Disabilities, Social Services, Veteran’s Bureau, Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Health Department, Fare Free Transportation and Social Security who will have staff available to answer questions and guide residents in the application process.
Freeholder liaison, Jeffrey L. Pierson, stated, “Cape May County has an aging population and we want to ensure they are getting the services they need, this program is designed to proactively reach out to those who needs our help. The S.O.A.R. program has already helped residents in getting needed services they were not aware were available.”
Individuals and caregivers are encouraged to join Freeholder Jeffrey Pierson and the various service providers to attend the Upper Township Senior Center presentation. This and all S.O.A.R. programs are open to all county residents at no charge.
The S.O.A.R. programs are planned to be held at all countywide Senior Centers and information on those dates and locations will be announced. The presentation will last about a half hour with time for individual meetings with the various representatives.
Anyone interested in learning more about S.O.A.R. can call the Division of Aging & Disability at 609 886-2784. Following this presentation, Information & Assistance workers will be at the senior centers on a monthly basis to assist anyone who might have an interest in these services in the future.
