WILDWOOD – The National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Regional Judging Meet, sponsored by the Central New Jersey Chapter, will bring members from all over the country to the Wildwoods to enjoy the hobby of Corvette restoration. The meet will take place in the Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwoods Convention Center Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21, where hundreds of Corvettes will be on display.
Over 100 judges will attend to evaluate original and restored Corvettes to the standards that the NCRS has developed over 37 years. The standards are in manuals that were written by observing original cars as they were delivered to dealers when the cars were new. All aspects of the cars are judged against strict standards including exterior, interior, mechanical, chassis, and operations. These areas are judged for condition and originality.
Over 100 cars will be displayed and judged, all of them hoping to earn a ‘Top Flight’ award. In order to obtain a ‘Top Flight’ award, a score of 94-100% must be earned based on the judging manual standards. A score of 85-93.99% is required for ‘Second Flight’ a score of 74-84.99% for ‘Third Flight’.
Each car will be judged by 5 judging teams with 2 judges per team. The teams will devote approximately 5-6 total hours on each car. Other high awards that members hope to earn will be Performance Verification, Bow Tie sign-off and the coveted ‘Duntov Mark of Excellence Award’.
In addition to the corvette judging, member education will be part of the schedule of events. An advance Judging School conducted by a senior NCRS Master Judge will instruct attendees on how to recognize original parts and how to award points to the cars.
Over 300 registered families are expected. Members can pre-register or register at the show. Non-members can enter the show at the main gate to observe the judging and see all the cars. The entrance fee for non-members is $10 per day. Only members will be able to attend the educational sessions.
The extensive three-day event will end with an awards banquet on Saturday evening, celebrating members’ accomplishments and the presentation of awards.
