Concerts under the stars

By On Deck Staff

On Thursday, Aug. 20, North Wildwood’s free “Concerts under the Stars” will present Larry Chance and the Earls at the Lou Booth Amphitheater, Second and Ocean avenues at 8 p.m.
Recently nominated for Best Musical Act in Atlantic City, Larry Chance and the Earls are much more than an AC sensation.
Their unique combination of classic Doo Wop vocals and upbeat contemporary sound is winning acclaim wherever they perform. Their novel approach to the oldies of the early Rock ‘n Roll years brings back memories for some, while still exciting audiences of all ages.
Chance is a truly versatile performer and his talents include writing, producing, and percussion on some of the Earls’ songs.
Originally from Philadelphia, Chance’s school peers include Danny (of Danny and the Juniors), Lee Andrews, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, and Ernest Evans (Chubby Checker).
Larry and the Earls were inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame on June 21, 2008, joining past inductees such as Regis Philbin, Rita Moreno, and Luther Vandross.
On Saturday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m., Joey Arminio and “the Family” will bring their “Tribute to the 500 Club” to the Amphitheater.
Joey Arminio and the Family” deliver an arsenal of great songs and quality entertainment. Their shows combine great singing, dancing, comedy, skits, and that old vaudeville feeling.
Arminio and the Family transform themselves into the style of the ‘50s and ‘60s with some of the greatest oldies, along with “appearances” by Buddy Holly, Connie Francis, the girl groups and teen idols.
Arminio’s teamwork with his wife Stiletto will remind you of Sonny and Cher.
Broadway devotees will delight in memorable numbers from “Guys and Dolls,” “Sweet Charity,” and a show stopping “appearance” by Liza Minelli.
From the first number to the last—a swing number called “Zoot Suit Riot”—the Family will take the audience back to the “good old days.”
