By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group took care of the caregivers in March with help from the students of the Post-Secondary Cosmetology Program at the Cape May County Technical School District.
According to a release, Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Department held its annual Wellness Night, a special evening of pampering services for the grandparents of the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program, March 20.
Each year, the program hosts a Wellness Night which allows the participants to be treated to either hair styling, a manicure or a facial.
All of the services are performed by the students enrolled in the Technical District’s Post-Secondary Cosmetology Program.
The partnership between FCHS and the Cosmetology Program of the Cape May County Technical School District not only provides services for the grandparents but also provides an opportunity for the Cosmetology students to gain practical experience while studying their chosen field.
The next meeting of the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group will be April 17.
The free information session will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Court House. April’s guest speakers will be therapists, Ingrid Hartman and Lisa Borchardt from the Cape May Trauma Treatment program of Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May counties. Their topic will focus on child and adolescent trauma counseling services available in Cape May County.
There is no charge for this program, however, advanced registration is required. For information about the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program, please call Rutgers Cooperative Extension at (609) 465-5115, ext. 3609.
