CAPE MAY – The pilot who landed a banner plane on a secured Coast Guard beach June 24 is still being sought by authorities as of June 26, according to media reports.
Paramount Air Service, the company that owns the plane, confirmed that Jimmy Dahlen Jr., 50, of Cape May, a mechanic at the company, was the person flying the plane, according to NJ.com.
Dahlen Jr. is the stepson of Barbara Tomalino, the company’s owner.
Tomalino told The Press of Atlantic City that Dahlen Jr. is a student pilot who was acting normally when he worked his shift June 24.
Tomalino, in a June 25 statement, said that the plane “was taken without authority of the management or ownership of Paramount Air Service… Paramount Air Service has no knowledge of the pilot’s motivation for the incident or his whereabouts after the incident.”
An arrest warrant has been issued for Dahlen Jr.
