A Coast Guard crew recovered the body of a missing man near Thompson Beach in Cumberland County, Aug. 21.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss,” said Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Commander Capt. Scott Anderson. “We would also like to thank our state and county partner agencies and first responders for their extraordinary efforts during this search.”
According to a release, air and surface crews from the Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police, and Cumberland County Fire/Rescue teams began searching for the man Aug. 20, following a report of a missing kayaker who set out Aug. 19.
Coast Guard search and rescue teams collectively searched 582 square nautical miles.
