Coast Guard Crew Medevacs Man Having Seizure at Sea

By Press Release

CAPE MAY– The Coast Guard medevaced a 31-year-old male from aboard a 66-foot fishing boat after he suffered a seizure 45 miles southeast of Cape May Thursday.
Medevaced was Eric Stillwell.
The Coast Guard received a call at 5:54 p.m. from the captain of the Grand Larson III reporting Stillwell showed signs of fatigue earlier in the day and had a seizure.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and transported Stillwell to the air station where he was transferred to awaiting medical personnel.
“The communication between the Coast Guard units and the crew of the Grand Larson was great, which made the rescue run smoothly,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Tye Conklin, the rescue swimmer on the search and rescue case. “We constantly train for situations like this.”
