Wedding Preview Series: May I Have This Dance?

By Sponsored Content

A bride and groom’s first dance as a married couple, however brief it may be, represents a defining moment in their lives together – the moment at which their theme song is solidified. And every harmonious couple deserves an epic, well-suited theme song.
Though it may seem daunting or impossible at first, selecting your first dance song is an awesome process of self-expression. In hopes to inspire, we’ve compiled a list of the top classic and modern first dance songs of 2013.
Classic choices:
1. “At Last” – Etta James
2. “As Time Goes By” – from Casablanca
3. 4. “Because You Loved Me” – Celine Dion
4. 6. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” – Elvis Presley
5. 8. “Close To You” – The Carpenters
6. “In My Life” – The Beatles
Some modern picks:
1. “Make You Feel My Love” – Adele
2. “Ho Hey” – The Lumineers
3. “Never Let Me Go” – Florence + The Machine
4. “Grow Old With Me” – Tom Odell
5. “We Found Love” – Boyce Avenue
6. “You Are The Best Thing” – Ray LaMontagne
Now that the brainstorming has begun, it’s time to consider the dance itself. It is only natural to feel intimidated by the thought of hundreds or at least dozens of your guests with their eyes ONLY on the two of you. A few classes in ballroom dance not only help you brush up on a few impressive moves, but they also tend to put couples more at ease when the time for the first dance actually rolls around.
At Dance With Me Ballroom of Ocean City, the “Wedding Dance” is a particular area of expertise. Instructor Edward started teaching Ballroom & Latin dancing at the age of 18 and has made it his goal to share his love of dance, specifically Ballroom with anyone who wishes to learn. Over the last 20 years, Edward has taught numerous students at a variety of skill levels. Rather not improvise on your big day? Dance With Me also provides choreographed routines for weddings. Call (609) 231-1043 to book your Complimentary Lesson! Dance With Me is located on the second floor of the Ocean City Arts Center at 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City.
