Cape Trinity Catholic Announces Partnership with Medical School

By On Deck Staff

Cape Trinity Catholic School, opening September, 2010, has announced the formation of a partnership with the Surgery Club of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).
PCOM Department of Surgery Chairman Dr. Art Sesso shares, “The club dedicates its activities to the memories of two past Chairmen of the Department of Surgery: Dr. Galen Young, Sr. and Dr. Daniel Wisely. Both men committed themselves to excellence in education and community service.
“As we begin this educational journey with the young students of Cape Trinity Catholic, we look forward to carrying out the mantra of Drs. Young and Wisely.”
Sesso adds, “Our students are excited about coming to Wildwood. We plan to participate in a number of activities that will promise to be both fun and educational. We look forward to serving the students of Cape Trinity Catholic through teaching, mentoring, and good fellowship.”
As Sr. Sheila Murphy, and Donna DiPasquale thought about this program, they knew the partner needed to possess some key characteristics. The partnership needed to offer an innovative learning experience. The partnership needed to offer a program that fit into the critical thinking focus. Finally, the partner needed to share the same belief in service. Sr. Sheila and Mrs. DiPasquale chose the partnership with PCOM because it accomplishes all of these things.
Plans are being set to send eight current students from both Our Lady Star of the Sea and St. Ann Regional Schools to PCOM for the day. The students selected for the trip will meet with Surgery Club members and discuss ways that they can connect beginning with the next school year. The elementary students will also tour the campus and visit the human patient simulator lab. More official, scheduled activities will begin in September.
Registrations for Cape Trinity Catholic will begin on Jan. 25 for current students of St. Ann and Star of the Sea Regional Schools. All other registrations will be accepted beginning Feb. 16. Contact Advancement Directors Julie Roche at 522-2704 or Maria Mulville at 884-4437 for more information.
