Cape May County Zoo Hosts 40th Anniversary Celebration

Cape May County Zoo Hosts 40th Anniversary Celebration

By Press Release

Join us for a fun filled day on Saturday, June 9 at the Cape May County Zoo as we celebrate the milestone of 40 years since its opening!
The public is invited to join this 40th anniversary celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and enjoy a day filled with festivities. Planned after the 11 a.m. ceremony will be a Keeper Talk at 11:30 a.m., introducing the newest members of the zoo’s primate families, the Gibbon apes. Award-winning entertainer Chad Juros will perform a magic show at 12 noon, followed by the announcement of the baby boy giraffe’s new name as the naming contest ends the day prior.
Plans throughout the day include steel drum music, a live radio broadcast from Cat County 107.3 WPUR, and a visit from WHYY with a book swap, Curious George and giveaways. Highlights also include inflatable bounce houses, crafts, face painting, children’s rides and surprise character appearances by Let’s Party Events.
It is also Conservation Day inside the zoo. Displays will be placed at various endangered animal species within the zoo, represented by local community volunteer groups. This will allow guests to learn more about the animals, hear why they are endangered, and raise awareness and funds for their individual conservation groups.
Freeholder E. Marie Hayes, liaison to the Cape May County Park & Zoo, says, “On behalf of the entire Freeholder Board, I would like to invite everyone to the 40th anniversary celebration of the zoo. What better way to have a fantastic day of fun and celebration with the entire family. There will be something for everyone!”
