The Wildwood Recreation Commission, which oversees the operation of the Byrne Community Center, has announced a contest to design a suitable logo for the new state-of-the-art facility. The contest is open to Wildwood residents of all ages.
Logo size needs to be at least 5″ x 5″ and entries are to be submitted on 8.5″ x 11″ white paper and include the words “Byrne Community Center.” Entries must have the artist’s name, age, address and phone number on the back of the artwork. Designs should be dropped off at the Byrne Community Center at 401 W. Young Ave. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 29.
The Wildwood Recreation Commission will judge the entries and announce the winner on Wednesday, June 10. Selection criteria include the consideration of the goals and spirit of the community center and the quality and originality of its visual imagery.
The logo should be easily recognizable, dramatic and reflect the community pride emphasized at the center. The designer is welcome to attach a short textual description of the logo along with the design (optional).
Entries must be an original work of the submitter and free of all copyright or other intellectual property claims. The artwork becomes the property of the City of Wildwood and will be used at the City’s sole discretion. There is a limit of two entries per person.
The winning designer and honorable mentions will receive prizes and be displayed at the community center and on the center’s website. All entrants will be invited to a celebration at the center.
The Byrne Community Center includes an 8,000 square feet gymnasium, dance studio, computer lab, conference room and offices, exercise room and professional kitchen for a total of 13,000 square feet of space. The innovative facility is self-contained with its own power generation in case of emergency and has been designated as a Red Cross Evacuation Center and a secondary evacuation site for Wildwood High School.
The community center’s website is byrnecommunitycenter.com and includes information about the center and contact information for staff and recreation commission members. Community center hours of operation, programs and upcoming events are also on the site.
Please call the center at 609-522-5387 for more information on the logo contest or center activities.
