Windrift Wins Wine Spectator Award

By Herald Staff

AVALON –The Windrift Hotel restaurant won a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards.
The program recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections and are appropriate to the cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.
The Award of Excellence is given for lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Typically, these lists offer at least 100 selections – the Windrift has more than 120.
In preparation for its forty-third season of entertaining locals and vacationers alike, the Windrift dramatically renovated their dining room and bar areas to include a new temperature-controlled Wine Room.
Housing 1,000 bottles from the newly-crafted wine list, this rivals any other wine list and display on the island, and is sure to be an added attraction for guests looking to experience fine dining or just sip a glass of wine in a social environment.
