Whalen’s Auto Repair & Tires: New Location, Same Great Service

Whalen's Auto

By Sponsored

If you are looking for trustworthy care for your car, look no further than Whalen’s Auto Repair & Tires in Cape May Court House. Now located at a brand new, larger facility, Whalen’s continues to provide the high quality car care it has been offering for almost 70 years.
Since 1948, this locally owned and operated business has been providing nothing but top-notch auto services to the Cape May County community. The business has stayed in the family throughout the years, boasting honesty and reliability from generation to generation. Original owner Edward J. Whalen Sr. passed the business on to his son Edward J. Whalen Jr., who then passed it on to his son Edward J. Whalen III, current owner.
Current owner Edward J. Whalen III’s love for cars began at the young age of 9 as he pumped gas at his grandfather’s Esso Station in the ‘70s. This love continued to develop as he grew up around his grandfather’s auto repair business in Wildwood. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Edward worked for his father when he took over Whalen’s, and in 1995 Edward became the new owner of the business, now in Cape May Court House.
Prior to becoming the owner of Whalen’s, Edward attended DeVry University for computer programming. Although he does not work directly into the field, he still uses much of his learned knowledge today to fix cars. “Back in 1980 there was one computer in a car; nowadays there are 15 or more. Pretty much everything in a car is controlled by a computer, and those computers are all connected like a network,” Edward shares. He stresses the importance of staying on top of technology and ever-changing cars, which is where his computer programming training comes in handy.
Whalen’s staff members and technicians must also stay educated about current car technology, which is why they often attend classes at specialized schools throughout the U.S. to stay highly trained and certified. “We’ll send staff and technicians anywhere for training, and they will often be there for two or three days at a time,” says Edward. “Cars change so quickly, which means we have to, too.”
The following review truly reflects not only the quality of service at Whalen’s, but also the honesty and reliability that community members have felt and continue to feel when they bring their cars to Whalen’s.
“I suppose it’s generational, Ed. You are like your father, and he was like his father. I can’t possibly list all your good traits, but you are all so rare today. Being older we have been scammed so many times . . . but knowing you and your family has renewed our faith in honest people.” – Bernadette Q.
Car troubles can happen at any place and any time. Whether you are a year-round resident or just visiting for vacation, you can trust Whalen’s for only the best car care. The service is the difference!
