Wawa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Wawa Inc. corporation, has awarded Cape May Courthouse non-profit St.Babs with a grant for continued support of its health & human services programs. St.Babs, founded in 2016 by PA/NJ-native, former award-winning independent film celebrity & Hollywood digital entertainment executive Will Keenan in memory of his deceased mother Barbara (a NJ career-Registered Nurse) is housed on one of Cape May County NJ’s most historic sacred estates (Goshen; circa ~1830s).
St.Babs resides within Wawa-served locations Cape May Courthouse, Rio Grande, Mauriceville & Dennisville NJ to build stronger communities & further fulfill everyday lives by supporting local underserved communities, promote cultural diversity in both the quad-state area (NJ, PA, DE, NY) & global online communities through spiritual/health/recovery programs, arts education & civic events, as well as the ongoing restoration of one of NJ’s most famous historic estates.
St.Babs Founder & Executive Director Will Keenan (born in Philadelphia, raised in PA & south NJ) fondly remembers growing up in Wawa-served regions, and often reminisces about bringing friends & visitors from New York, Los Angeles & around the world to his hometown/tri-state area when they would experience Wawa for the first time, “Having grown up with Wawa, and coming back to the area to start a nonprofit to do good in my mother’s name, it is an incredibly great honor to receive the support of the Wawa Foundation.” Keenan goes on to say, “I used to get excited about bringing people who weren’t from this area to a Wawa, because no matter where they were from they’d always be amazed by a Wawa, and while they were here seemed to forever keep talking about Wawa & even long after they’d left the area, many wondering why there weren’t Wawas in other parts of America or the rest of the world.”
