Splash Joins 1% for the Planet and Makes Earth Day Everyday

Travis and Hilary Pritchard proudly display the 1% for the Planet sign at Splash with Gretchen Whitman

By Press Release

Splash is pleased to announce that they are proud members of 1% for the Planet. Committing at least 1% of sales to nonprofit environmental organizations that promote nature appreciation, education and positive environmental change. 1% for the Planet connects dollars with doers. They link businesses, individuals and nonprofits to help create partnerships that protect the planet.
The Pritchards, owners of Splash and Whale’s Tale in Cape May, have been supportive of environmental issues and nonprofits since first opening a small gift shop in 1974.
“We thought the name, Whale’s Tale, worked well with our efforts to publicize the wide spread harvesting of whales in the ’70s. We sold T-shirts with our logo, a very old woodcut of a whale on the front, and ‘save the whales’ on the back. We sent the proceeds to a newly formed group called Greenpeace,” explains Hilary. “Over the years, Whale’s Tale has donated to over 50 local and national organizations. Joining 1% for the Planet is a great way to continue and build upon a foundation of giving back that has been a cornerstone of our business.”
Splash is located at 513 Carpenter’s Ln., Cape May. For more information, please call (609) 846-7100
There are countless ways in which nonprofits are protecting the planet. 1% for the Planet focuses on six primary areas: climate, food, land, pollution, water and wildlife, as they encompass the most critical areas of environmental impact. Members of 1% for the Planet have given tens of millions of dollars to the environment, and their nonprofit partners are doing the hard work of restoring our planet for the future. The goal is to not only direct giving toward environmental causes, but to increase the overall amount of global dollars going to help protect the planet.
