NORTH WILDWOOD — An extensive project is underway on many of the streets. Specifically, on Feb. 22, South Jersey Gas (SJG) began renewing lines from low pressure to high pressure along the east-west streets between Delaware and New York, and in some cases between Delaware and New Jersey avenues from 26th to 10th Avenue.
Also as part of this project, SJG will be renewing from low pressure to high pressure along 22nd and 23rd avenues between Atlantic and Surf avenues according to a release from South Jersey Gas.
These renewals will provide more reliable, consistent gas pressure and service to those residents most notably impacted by recent, ongoing pressure disruptions.
SJG will be renewing the main on Delaware Avenue between Spruce and Second avenues.
All areas where SJG is installing high pressure main will also have existing services renewed. This means that existing LP services will be switched to HP and any existing HP services will be tested and connected to the new main.
The plan calls for working on New York Avenue between 21st and 26th avenues. Once the main has been serviced with gas, crews will begin installing new main on the side streets noted above between 21st and 26th avenues.
Additional crews will be brought in as the weather allows, and they will be working north of 21st Avenue completing the same type of work.
The 22nd, 23rd, and Delaware Avenue projects are in the design and permitting phase.
Important information for residents: JF Kiely will be completing the construction on behalf of SJG.
They will be contacting, via paper notices as well as phone calls, each resident who will be affected by this project. In any case where a service is renewed, JF Kiely or SJG will need access to the homes to relight appliances and will make these arrangements with residents.
Existing low pressure gas meters located inside the home will be removed and replaced with a high pressure gas meter on the outside of the dwelling.
