For years, conventional wisdom held that snow at the threshold may not offer the proper “curb appeal” for sales of summer residences.
Your ever optimistic Real Estate Update wonders if recent trends – baby boomer second-home buyers and relocating seniors – may put the occasional wintry scene at more of a premium for today’s buyer. Granted, snow may delay buying trips, but when they get here buyers see scenes redolent of “home.”
And meanwhile, we lucky full-time residents behold daily the very poetic image of snow on the beach.

A ‘Condotel’
For Ocean City
The Wildwoods’ recent experiences with “condotels” have been well-publicized, and the phenomenon seems to be moving northward.
French Real Estate has announced that during President’s Weekend (Feb. 18-20), it will sponsor an open house daily at Ocean 7 Condominiums, a beach block condotel at 7th Street and the beach in Ocean City.
Priced from $146,000 to $320,000, the project’s 73 units are designed in “South Beach” style. Listing agent Ron Beaver says “properties like this are disappearing” and that the units represent “a solid investment without the hassle” of home upkeep. There’s 24/7 site management, maid and maintenance service, and other amenities, says Beaver.
