Ocean City Police Receive Traffic Award

OCEAN CITY — The Police Department here will be receiving a Level 6 Agency-Second Place Award for participating in the New Jersey Law Enforcement Challenge.
The Level 6 Award is granted to departments that employ between 45 and 65 full-time officers. This award is given based on the traffic safety plan that is submitted by the Ocean City Traffic Safety Unit.
Included in that plan are improvements to roadways, specific traffic enforcement initiatives and community outreach programs. Some of the plans reviewed in Ocean City were; the Bicycle Friendly improvements to Haven Avenue, Seatbelt, DWI, Cell Phone enforcement and the Think Safety program that includes traffic calming programs.
The Award is given by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the New Jersey Office of Highway Traffic Safety.
Attending the awards ceremony will be Sgt.Charles Simonson and Ptl. Mike Tabor of the Traffic Safety Unit.
