NJTIA and GWTIDA Sponsor Cape May County Tech Students at NJ Tourism Conference

By Press Release

THE WILDWOODS – The New Jersey Tourism Industry Association (NJTIA) and the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) will sponsor the entire class of students from the Travel, Tourism, Event Planning and Marketing program of the Cape May County Technical High School at the annual New Jersey Conference on Tourism to be held on Dec. 5, 2018 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, presented by the NJTIA.

“As one of the leading tourism contributors in Cape May County, it is our sincere pleasure to sponsor students in their pursuit of education and first-hand experience in the tourism field,” said Ben Rose, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at GWTIDA. “We look forward to continuing to do our part to encourage the education of the next generation of travel and tourism professionals,” Rose continued.

This marks the sixth year NJTIA and GWTIDA will sponsor Cape May County Technical High School’s Travel, Tourism, Event Planning and Marketing students. This year, 12 sophomores, juniors and seniors will attend the Conference. Students who successfully complete the Travel and Tourism course, taught by Jennifer Siciliano, will earn college credits that may be applied to Atlantic Cape Community College or Johnson and Wales College Travel and Tourism program; allowing students to have a well-rounded background on the industry.

“GWTIDA’s sponsorship is key in allowing students to meet and be mentored by professionals in the tourism industry from throughout the state and gain valuable insight into the variety of tools available to them in their future careers,” said Jennifer Siciliano. “Students will attend various speaking engagements, keynote addresses and breakout sessions, allowing them to gain first-hand knowledge and experience,” she added.

Organized by the NJTIA, the 2018 NJ Conference on Tourism offers unique networking opportunities with industry professionals from all over New Jersey. Sessions will run throughout the day to include marketing tactics and tools of the trade that have been proven to drive tourism traffic into towns during their peak seasons and how to keep themselves relevant during the off-season. Attendees will also learn about how to improve and capitalize on their digital footprint to target a wide variety of individuals.
