Middle Township High School students and athletes will be the first to train in the new sports-specific training facility.
This is the first school-based, sports specific performance facility in the Cape May Court House area to include state-of-the-art equipment such as:
- Power racks with benches
- Olympic barbells and bumper plates
- Lifting platforms
- Olympic Combo Hex Bars
- Dumbbells and kettlebells
- Slam and medicine balls
- TRX Suspension trainers
- Battle ropes
- Plyo boxes
- Tire trainers
Training for both male and female student athletes will now incorporate the school’s new Strength and Conditioning program. Designed to increase muscular strength, muscular endurance, power, agility, and flexibility, this programming will provide an advantage with workouts that will range from the explosive power of plyometrics to the methods of traditional weightlifting and powerlifting.
“High school sports can be the deciding factor of student athletes when choosing which school to attend,” stated Sharon Rementer, Middle Township High School athletic director, and assistant principal. “It’s extremely competitive, but this training facility will give athletes an advantage, and elevate them to the next level.”
The facility is open to athletic teams and students. The student-designed Panther Sports Performance program is open to students who elect to take the class instead of gym. They’ll learn the proper techniques of weightlifting, spotting, and resistance training.
In addition to physical training, they will also receive educational training to “We want as many of our students, not just the student athletes, to take advantage of this facility as possible,” added Rementer.
