Replace ignorance, judgment and stigma with understanding, compassion and acceptance.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Atlantic/Cape May chapter now offers Family and “consumer” (mentally ill individuals) support groups beginning on Wednesday, January 16, 2018, and are scheduled the third Wednesday of every month. The location is at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church at 702 Seashore Road, Erma, NJ in the white building, separate from the sanctuary building at 7:00-8:30 PM. Light refreshments are served and groups are run by NAMI trained facilitators. Call Paul Herbert (609-335-2952), the NAMI representative who welcomes your questions or concerns about these upcoming events.
Our mission is to improve the lives of all those affected by mental illness through support, education and advocacy. Every meeting helps participants wade through the complexities of mental illness: symptoms, treatment, housing, employment, legisltive initiatives, long term recovery and the newest research on brain disorders. Expert speakers will appear thoughout the year on these topics as well.
It is critical that NAMI reach all Cape May residents along with its long term partner, the Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) at Cape Counseling. We hope to become an integral part of the Cape May mental health service provider community. For more information visit www.namiac.org.
