WILDWOOD –In a true David and Goliath tale, Morey’s Piers’ Ghost Ship, a theatrical horror walk through attraction, went up against four major theme parks and their newest rides for the title of About.com’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2010 and won.
The Ghost Ship is a resurrection of the classic boardwalk dark attraction. It involves a combination of animatronics, special effects and live actors which combine to make it a living attraction that constantly changes with each visitor’s experience. For 2011, the Ghost Ship will be a more immersive experience with the addition of path modifications, new tricks and an updated story line.
“It’s interesting to see an attraction that relies heavily on a theatrical concept rise over all these purely mechanical, though truly impressive, rides,” said Jack Morey, executive vice president of Morey’s Piers. “It reinforces the fact that the classic culture of the Wildwoods and America’s boardwalk is very much alive.”
Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Waterparks took the opportunity to thank all friends and fans that voted in the competition and brought increased national exposure to the Wildwoods.
Will Morey, president of Morey’s, said, “As a family owned park, it’s humbling to see that magnitude of support coming from our fans.”
“This award has brought significant exposure to not only the Wildwoods, but the Jersey Shore,” added Tim Samson, brand manager. “It is a testament of our visitors and their loyalty and love for the Wildwoods.”
Morey’s Piers looks forward to sharing an award-worthy 2011 season with all of its guests. The Ghost Ship, with its new show and enhancements will surely live up to this award.
