With trendy apparel, accessory, and jewelry lines, the newly renovated Moonstruck Boutique in Stone Harbor has been visitors and locals’ go-to shopping destination for the past 10 years. This year, the boutique has expanded into Wildwood and opened a second location on the Boardwalk, located at the base of the Ocean Towers. Both locations carry women’s apparel, purses, jewelry, accessories, home décor and more to provide their customers with the hottest trends and styles all year round!
Owner Doug Johnson opened the original Moonstruck Boutique in Stone Harbor 10 years ago, before moving to the current location in the heart of the shopping district on 96th Street. Doug’s parents had a home in Wildwood Crest and he always had an eye for fashion, so he thought Stone Harbor would be the perfect place to open a new, trendy boutique. He recruited his friend, Carol Allgeyer, who worked as a district manager at jewelry and apparel stores, to join the team as the Director of Retail Operations. Carol now manages everything from day-to-day operations in both stores to assisting Doug with buying, merchandising and business development at various locations.
This past April, Doug decided to expand into Wildwood when another longstanding boutique was going out of the business. The old boutique had been in the new Wildwood storefront for 10 years and carried similar product lines, so it was a great foundation for their new location and a wonderful opportunity to bring Moonstruck’s unique styles to the Wildwood Boardwalk.
Both boutiques carry a variety of apparel, jewelry, and accessory lines, including Spartina, UNOde50, Krazy Larry, Brighton, IC Collection, and Tommy Bahama. Doug hand-selects merchandise when he travels and only offers the highest quality products to their loyal customers. Over the years, the customer base has continued to grow and customers return year after year with their friends and family. The merchandise at Moonstruck is multi-generational, so people of all ages can enjoy the unique product lines Moonstruck has to offer! Customers are also able to shop online at www.moonstruckboutiques.com.
Doug will continue his business expansion later this year after his recent purchase of the Riverboat Club. The historic mansion has over 100 years of history and is centrally located in the historic section of Ocean City at the corner of Eighth Street and Wesley Avenue. Although this new location will not be a “Moonstruck” boutique, Doug and Carol, along with their team, plan to create retail space on the first floor, while leaving the rooms and bar on the second floor to preserve the history of the building. The team hopes to open this new and exciting business venture in 2020.
Next time you’re in Stone Harbor or Wildwood, stop by one of the boutiques, browse the fantastic product lines, and shop til’ you drop! The Moonstruck Boutiques are located at 235 96th St. in Stone Harbor and 5316 Boardwalk in Wildwood.
